Sadly I can't find the holy grail of screenplays which is Leigh Bracketts  first draft of Empire ,she's  best known for her work on Pulp Magazines and also on classic screenplays such as The Big Sleep ,Rio Bravo and  The Long Goodbye ..
Empire as her last  writing (The Lucas and  Kasdan drafts are completly different ,but from what I've read she came up of the concept of a female Jedi on the other side of galaxy that Luke is unaware of ...and that Luke gets in touch with his father via the force and talks to him..just like he would with Ben ..)The only way to actually read Bracketts screenplay is a visit to New Mexico University Libary seeing as I'm in South of England that's unlikely to ever happen..anyway heres a essay about her by Micheal Moorcockhttp://www.fantasticmetropolis.com/i/brackett/
