Indiana Clones
The Early 80's were great for imported telly and" Tales of the Gold Monkey" was a godsend for a 8 year old kid (me!)when it first aired back in 82 on a Friday night I was hooked from word go , the main guy was an ex flying tiger(ex? did he desert? the war between Japan and China was in full swing at the time period the series was set)who flew a Grumman Goose flying boat(wouldn't it be great to own one of those?) and had a one eyed mutt called Jack .The series only lasted 21 episodes ..not sure it's ever been repeated , but here's opening credits and a few clips from the show..
Another Jones Clone although it would be unfair to say that as the character Allan Quartermain was in fact created in 1885 by H.Rider Haggard but as you will see from these two movies they bare little resemblence to original books still good old fashioned fun none the less and Sharon Stone should get an Oscar for her heavy breathing in these films lol

The Making of Jonesy
The story behind Indiana Jones and Raiders,so cool to find out that Jim Steranko(The Comic artist and Magician)came up with Indys then again I think Bogart and Gary Cooper (especially in For Whom the Bell Tolls)also contributed somewhat to his image (Wouldn't it be great to see Indy mixed up in the Spanish Civil War if I ever make it big as a writer and artist I'd suggest that idea to whoevers publishing the comics )
Also heres very first episode of The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles to see how it all began http://www.tudou.com/programs/view/sJzrJqmN19w/

Archie and Al
My tribute to Archie Goodwin and Al Williamson never a finer team in comics (the definate Star Wars writer and Artist )Theres a real Flash Gordon flavour to Al's work instantly classic.
Sadly my vids not as fantastic as it should be (I had about six attempts at it firstly with Windows movie maker ..but that was making the music all crackly then slideshow here which cut me short seeing as its a trial version so i'm a bit fobbed off with windows movie maker ..worked on my first few videos then it got arsey with sound formatting once I suss out problem I'll replace this video.

Ralph
Continuing my Star Wars posts which will conclude with my posting of "Returning to Jedi" heres the Mack Daddy of all Star Wars concept artists Ralph McQuarrie.. it's always fascinating to see these and also poses the question of what might of been which brings me to the original Star Wars screenplays , some of which can be found online here http://www.benandgrover.com/scripts.asp
Sadly I can't find the holy grail of screenplays which is Leigh Bracketts first draft of Empire ,she's best known for her work on Pulp Magazines and also on classic screenplays such as The Big Sleep ,Rio Bravo and The Long Goodbye ..
Empire as her last writing (The Lucas and Kasdan drafts are completly different ,but from what I've read she came up of the concept of a female Jedi on the other side of galaxy that Luke is unaware of ...and that Luke gets in touch with his father via the force and talks to him..just like he would with Ben ..)The only way to actually read Bracketts screenplay is a visit to New Mexico University Libary seeing as I'm in South of England that's unlikely to ever happen..anyway heres a essay about her by Micheal Moorcockhttp://www.fantasticmetropolis.com/i/brackett/

Sir Henry at Rawlinson End part 2
More Surreal humor from Viv including clips from the motion picture of Rawlinson End starring Trevor Howard as Sir Henry , a tribute to two Loons Viv and Keith Moon and part two of Sir Henry at Rawlinson End (this stuff is up there with Chaucer and Shakesphere.. it should be taught in school ..just as valid in my book lol I think it would make people fall in love with words again )

Shadows of the Empire
Shadows of The Empire was a multimedia project that was everything but a movie. A novel , a comic(written by John Wagner co-creator of Judge Dredd no less) toys , a soundtrack, trading cards and a computer game.. it was a project of epic scale, a excercise to get people excited about the forthcoming Special Editions that followed a year later (this was back in 1996). Have to admit didn't play computer games back then so I can't comment on the game but I think they got Xivors voice wrong here looking at the cutscene ..I expected Jack Nicholson, that's how I envisioned him in book and comic, anyhow if Lucasfilm have any sense somehere down the line they should make an animated version of the events that happen durring the galactic civil war based upon The Marvel Comic Books, Al Williamson's newspaper strips(More on that later)and this story ..but the Xivor cmon' man .. he's Jack!
Viv
What's Christmas without Viv Stanshall's brand of Dadaism? It's been a ritual for me to listen to Rawlinson End each Christmas season since John Peel passed away brings back good memories and the odd belly laugh too(the guy's a genius!)anyway here's a film recording a week in life of Viv plus part 1 of what may proove a regular thing here "Sir Henry at Rawlinson End" dot dot dot .
